We Asked Our WonderWomen What It Really Means to Be a Woman in Advertising, Turns out, it’s more powerful than we thought.
Born in Beirut and proudly growing in Riyadh, San Francisco, London, and Dubai, WonderEight is a purpose-led creative agency, but it’s our people who truly define us. And some of them wear invisible capes.
For the Women in Advertising issue, we didn’t want to speak about women, we wanted to hear from them. So we asked the WonderWomen of WonderEight across departments and cities: What does it mean to be a woman in this industry today?
The answers were bold. Beautiful. Unfiltered.
“Creativity doesn’t thrive in boxes, neither should people,” said Laureine, Senior Accountant. “The best ideas come when everyone feels seen, heard, and free to take up space.”
“As a Creative Director, I was trusted from day one,” shared Joelle. “I didn’t have to prove myself first or shrink my voice to fit a room. That kind of trust lets women lead in their own way, and that’s powerful.”
Nahida, Office Admin, added: “Being a woman in advertising means standing up and being heard. It means turning every ‘maybe’ into a ‘watch me.’”
Some shared how confidence was built, not demanded. “I gave it to myself straight,” wrote Chloe, Senior Social Media Manager. “Sometimes you mess up, but the next day you look in the mirror, love what you see, and move on. Bold looks good on you.”
Others addressed the quiet biases that still exist. “This industry still boxes women into certain roles,” said Dana, Senior Art Director. “But our voices aren’t just included, they’re sought out here. And that changes everything.”
“Sometimes leadership is about backing someone else’s brilliance,” shared Mary, Senior Animator. “Knowing when to speak and when to amplify. That’s part of the job, too.”
Joanna, ACD, put it simply: “Being a mom doesn’t make me less ambitious. but to lead and grow I needed a place where I don’t have to prove am available 24/7”
And Sondos, Social Media Executive, closed with a reminder: “Your voice matters more than you think. Speak with intention. Someone’s always listening.”
What came through across every line was this: these women aren’t asking for space, they’re using it. Loudly. Gracefully. Intentionally.
